Screening of 'Bastion Point: Day 507' (1980) by Merata Mita, Leon Narbey and Gerd Pohlmann

Restored by Ngā Taonga last year, the documentary Bastion Point - Day 507 (1980; 27 mins) depicts the eviction of protestors from Bastion Point, a coastal region in Aotearoa, New Zealand, during the struggle for Māori land rights.

 

The screening will be accompanied by a Skype conversation with Sharon Hawke, daughter of Bastion Point occupation leader Joe Hawke.
