Raven Row held a special screening of David Lamelas’ videos made in collaboration with Hildegarde Duane in Los Angeles.

A selection of videos by David Lamelas made in collaboration with Hildegarde Duane in Los Angeles: The Dictator (1978, 15 minutes), The Dictator Returns (1984, 11 minutes), Manilla Run (1987, 12 minutes) and Gun (1994, 12 minutes). Spanning several decades these works position Lamelas and Duane as storytellers making use of parody, masquerade and humour, with an acute political awareness offering a critical perspective on the world of mass-media. Following the screening a conversation with David Lamelas and Hildegarde Duane will be chaired by Vanessa Desclaux.

This event was organised by curator Vanessa Desclaux in conjunction with David Lamelas’solo show at Bloomberg SPACE, exploring anew his work Connection of three spaces, initially made in 1966 at the Instituto di Tella in Buenos Aires.
