A programme of screenings and a performance
Wednesday 27 October 2010, 6.30pm performance; 7.15pm screenings

Raven Row presents a programme of screenings of later video works by artists shown in the exhibition 'Polytechnic', including Ian Bourn, John Adams and Stuart Marshall, selected by Richard Grayson the exhibition's curator. The hour long programme includes:

Ian Bourn, The End of The World, 1982, 7 minutes
John Adams, Goldfish Memoirs, 1993, 26 minutes
Stuart Marshall and Neil Bartlett, Pedagogue, 1988, 10 minutes

The screenings will be preceded by the performance Campo Santo by Roberta Graham.

The heaven and hell of suburban domesticity is put in the spotlight in The End of The World by Ian Bourn (1982), which involves a video game, a cup of tea and a Sunday afternoon. It features Ian Bourn and Helen Chadwick.

Goldfish Memoirs (1993) by John Adams tells the story of a man treated with a drug to give him perfect memory and fantastic intelligence. A Faustian pact unfolds. The narrative is inter-cut with interviews and meditations on the subject of memory.

Pedagogue (1988) by Stuart Marshall and Neil Bartlett wittily explores the possible implications of Clause 28 which was introduced by the Conservative government in 1988 to outlaw the 'promotion of homosexuality' in education and local government.
